What Are The Different Styles of Phones Available

It seems like everyone has a phone these days. From grandmother who just wants to be able to hit the big green button and talk to Edith, to the elementary school students who take theirs along when they go to the park to call mom if they need a ride home. There are many different styles of phones available right now, but you will notice a trend that they can be boiled down to a few main categories. There are flip phones or slider phones, touch screen phones, and smart phones. Which phone is best for you is going to come down to how you intend to use the phone.

Flip phones or Slider Phones: These phones typically are the traditional models of phones. This isn’t a rule, it just is what you typically find with cell phones. The buttons on a flip phone and the some slider phones will be responsive to pressure. You will have to literally engage the keypad for it to respond to your touch. The flip or slider phones are great phones to make phone calls, take pictures, play games like pac man or snake and to use as an alarm clock. There are exceptions to the rules but in general the flip and sliders are good beginner phones.

Touch screen phones: These phones are more intuitive. They have a flat screen that you use your fingertips or a stylus to select either numbers letters or many other options. These phones have models on both ends of the spectrum, some are more basic that will be similar to the flip/sliders and then on the other end you have phones that are competing against the smart phones.

Smart phones: Remember PDA’s these phones have combined the PDA with a phone so now you only have to carry one device around. These phones are begging to take over the phone world. As more companies are creating their own models more and more facets of our lives are beginning to be conducive to having a smart phone. IE: you can now order your cappuccino from your phone and have it ready by the time you walk in the door.

TO make matters worse there is a hodgepodge category; this is a combination of all the phones, or some of the phones. Some smart phones slide out, or flip out, while some slider phones are touch screen phones, but not a smart phone. Basically, you need to discover what you want the phone to do for you…then find a phone that will do it.
